Daniel "Danny" Marino is a character role-played by FlawlessWhale.

General Information[]

Daniel Marino was a Sergeant for the LSPD, Badge #213, before stepping down to pursue a political career. Dan put his name in the hat for Ignite's first mayorship and won. Dan is wrapped in a cloud of controversy surrounding the relationships he's made since putting the badge down.

Background Information[]

Daniel Marino was born in New York City in 1959 to Italian-American parents who divorced when he was only 10 years old.

He went to live with his mother while his younger brother, Joseph, went to live with their father. Growing up, Daniel and Joseph were very close despite their different living situations. Staying in touch over letters, the two would remain friends while Danny chased his Football dreams and Joseph went to the Police Academy.

Danny went on to play Quarterback at Boston College, where he famously defeated Notre Dame of St. Mary's his senior year throwing for 573 yard and 7 touchdowns. Unfortunately a 'skiing' accident that blew out his knee ended any potential professional career.

After bouncing around a few training camps and not landing anywhere, Danny found himself in Baltimore working as an equipment manager for The Colts. After helping the team move to Indianapolis, and in fact crashing one of the semis with all the equipment, Danny was let go. He worked at Panorama's Used Cars and More as a salesman for a few months. His brother Joseph reached out letting Danny know that the PD he was heading to was looking for more hires as well. Danny packed his things and took the flight to Los Santos.

Mayoral Race and Controversy[]

Dan looked at the group of mayoral candidates and saw he had a chance. With a little less than two weeks before the election, Dan started to plant the seeds in peoples minds that he wouldn't mind running for Mayor. Telling his brother and Chief Harper, but both told him that he makes a good cop and the force needed good cops right now... but Dan's disillusion with the force was growing due to the inner drama and politics that seemed to take the forefront instead of police work and investigations.

Dan had almost left the force before, but now knew it was his time to get out. Knowing he would put down his badge soon, Dan started to reach out to some acquaintances on the 'other side of the line'. Dan ended up spending one evening going around the city with his 'Girlfriend' Goldie. Dan brought up the Mayor thing and how he thought if he ran he would have a chance. Goldie agreed and pushed him to do it. Later that night Dan ran into a group of The Lost MC who also convinced Dan he would have a chance. The conversation with The Lost MC went on a for a bit and Dan found himself conveying to them some things he would 'hypothetically' do to win the vote of The Lost MC.

Days later Dan was approached and told there was a recording of the conversation that made him sound very corrupt and would jeopardize his Mayoral chances as well as ruin any relationship he had with the PD. He was coerced into joining into an investment group and had his bank account drained. Dan was also asked to perform one task, a major crime, for The Lost within three days or the tape would hit the streets. It was also mentioned that an earlier 'hit' on his brother may have been issued by someone, but The Lost carried it out and weren't afraid to start hurting people Dan cares about. Dan carried out his end of the deal. Whether Stockholm syndrome, or the fact any lifelines Dan put out for his former colleagues at the PD were ignored, Dan has grown closer to his new acquaintances.

Dan would go on to win the Mayorship, but with a cloud over his head. Dan left bread crumbs and hints for the smart cops to follow, but he also reached out to Marshal Riggs in a coded letter after he heard from some of his contacts on the street the DOJ was looking into Dan's investment. After a brief meeting with Riggs and the AG, Dan realized he wasn't going to be getting a life raft, but was in their sights as well. Dan turned hostile and stormed out of the meeting, in part due to the circumstances, but mostly due to Dan's disdain for the AG and his attitude.

Los Santos Customs[]

During Dan's time as a cop he would get into two memorable car chases with one Sean Kelly.

- The first one, Sean had stole taxi cab and was seen driving fast through the city. Dan tried to initiate a traffic stop but it turned into a 30 minute chase through the whole city. Once the other units had dropped out of the chase and it was only Dan and Sean, Sean pulled the taxi into a dead end alleyway. Dan, was sure there would be a shootout now that only one cop was there... but Sean turned the engine off and waited in the car like a normal traffic stop. Dan approached and a hilarious conversation ensued. Kelly let Dan know he just likes driving fast and he didn't mean anyone any harm. Dan got a kick out of the guy and did enjoy the chase... he issued him a very heavy ticket and warned him not to be driving like that in the city and to go return the cab.

- Weeks later Dan got into another long car chase. He recognized it was Kelly at one point and knew they had a skilled driver, so maneuvers were used to end the chase and take the stolen car out of commission. Kelly was arrested this time, but Dan had a long chat with him while he was in the cells. They both talked about their love of cars and how they both wished to start a car club. Dan told Kelly to work toward that goal or work toward owning a garage, Dan would surely help invest in a business like that to help him get his life straight.

Dan didn't hear from or see Kelly again for another couple weeks, when all of a sudden Kelly showed up outside the PO where Dan was with a matching Dodge Challenger to Dan's. The two had a good laugh about it and both were thrilled to see each other in different circumstances. A friendship was formed and the two would go on to talk about their dreams of opening their own 'High-End Mechanic Shop' to work on cars. The dream of this shop started to take shape and Dan and Kelly, along with their third partner Kenno, started to draft up a business license and set up an event to raise funds for the purchase of "Los Santos Customs" next to city hall.

The event went off and it was a huge success. Dan was able to leverage his relationships with the PD and other entities, and Kelly and Kenno rallied the city. They raised a nice amount of funds as well garnering massive support for their project. The following days Dan had the property appraised and the team knew they needed to come up with $110k to purchase the property. The Money was raised in less than 12 hours between the three owners and a lot of other supporters.

The shop was purchased the day before Dan won his mayorship and Kelly and Kenno have a team of employees ready to get to work. Unfortunately the government and any construction contractors aren't going to be able to work on the mechanic shop of the building for some time. The LSC brand will work mainly as a motorsports event company until they are able to purchase the right tools and equipment for the mechanic side. The events the team have planned include demolition derbies, motocross races, car shows, and even a 12-Leg Street Racing Grand Prix event.
